Going the extra mile for people in need 2011 Haute Savoie

In Extra Mile Challenges, Teams are required to raise a minimum of £1,200 (£300 per person). Our challenges have so far raised over £750,000 for well over 100 different charities.

How to collect donations

An easy way to maximise your fundraising at no extra cost is to  ensure that private individuals who sponsor you give at least their name, house name/number and postcode and tick the Gift Aid box whenever appropriate. You can do this for them if they agree - they do not have to sign. We reclaim from the Government an extra 28% of every Gift Aid donation, representing income tax paid by the donor. Please collect all donations from your sponsors and send them to Extra Mile Challenges as soon as you vcan, and no later than two months after the event.

You can collect credit card donations by setting up your own page linked to Extra Mile Challenges on the JustGiving website. Then create "create your page" and select Extra Mile Loire Challenge. JustGiving is a commercial organisation whose charges (about 7% of funds donated through JustGiving) are deducted before funds are passed to Extra Mile Challenges - though the gift aid is automatically reclaimed from donations. See Ihttp://www.justgiving.com/extramile

It's essential that all funds raised from our events are paid to Extra Mile Challenges in the first instance. Directing funds to charities other than Extra Mile Challenges creates a nightmare for volunteers who keep our accounts in order.

Each team nominates its own charity, which receives two-thirds of the team’s sponsorship. The remaining one-third goes to the organisers’ charities. In 2010 we are supporting:

Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire Air Ambulance
www.tvacaa.org

The red and yellow liveried EC135 helicopter is based at RAF Benson, Oxfordshire, which is the central point for the three counties TVACAA serves. The Air Ambulance carries a full range of life saving medical equipment and two fully qualified paramedics, who are supported on a regular basis by a small team of dedicated doctors.
The helicopter is operated in daylight hours, seven days per week, 365 days per year.
TVACAA operates across the three counties of Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire (BOB).  However, Air Ambulances have no clinical boundaries and can often be called out to attend emergencies in neighbouring counties when further assistance is required by the resident Air Ambulance.

SSAFA Forces Help

SSAFA help and support those who serve in our Armed Forces and those who used to serve - even if it was only for a single day. We also care for the families and dependents of both.
Last year alone, professional staff and trained volunteers provided a reliable, caring and trusted service to more than 50,000 people and helped to make a real difference to many lives.

British Sports Trust
www.sportsleaders.org

Since it was founded in 1982, Sports Leaders UK have typically delivered awards and qualifications through formal curriculum - schools, colleges and universities - but the urgent need for the skills and opportunities the courses deliver is in the community, not just in the classroom. Creation of the Sports Leaders UK Foundation recognised this need to reach out into the community and deliver a powerful contribution to the process of social inclusion. A commitment to community volunteering is an integral part of all Sports Leaders UK awards and qualifications, making sports leadership a lifetime commitment for many.
Experience of sports leadership in schools, colleges and universities shows significant improvements in behaviour, attendance, and in academic performance. In prisons, young offending units and a variety of youth and community organisations, sports leadership has been shown to work in the fight against crime, anti-social behaviour and drug abuse. For many young people, a leadership role in short gives them recognition, a sense of self-worth and empowerment not otherwise available to them.
Sports Leaders UK works through over 3,500 accredited delivery centres and trains in excess of 2,500 tutors each year. The Sports Leaders UK Foundation will open many of these centres to the community, fund new delivery centres, build on partnerships with other organisations, and mobilise a workforce of Sports Leaders across the UK.
