Going the extra mile for people in need 2011 Haute Savoie

Join us for the Extramile Haute Savoie Challenge 2011

This year, our Challenge takes us from the heart of France, through the vineyards of Burgundy and onto the foothills of the Alps, finishing at the stunning lakeside capital of the haute Savoie region, Annecy.
We are challenging teams of 4 to ride this spectacular 500 mile route in relay, typically each cyclist wil cover 45 miles each day in 4 or 5 stages. You don't have to be a seasoned cyclist to take part, but you and yor team do need to be reasonably fit: best to get on that bike and start training now!!

Raise money for YOUR Charity:

The Extramile organising Charity alows 2/3 of the money raised to go directly to your nominated Charities. The remaining third goes to the Organisers' nominated Charities - but 100% of the money raiosed in sponsorship reaches Charity withoutr any deduction. This is the 9thChallenge, and to date we have raised and donated over 750,000 pounds to a huge spectrum of Charities.

Enjoy the experience:

Teams return regularly to enjoy the superb cameradie, food and wine - all whilst enjoying some spectacular scenery and historic countryside. Teams enter as friends, workmates and sports clubs - all enjoy a fantastic team building experience.

The Challenge takes palce on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We return on Monday September 26 - time for passenger sleep on the way back to Calais for a Eurotunnel return.

Day 1 - Fontainebleau to Bourges

The Challenge begins at Fontainebleau - famous for its XVI century Chateau. Setting off through the forests, we then continue into the Loire valley, cycling in the vineyards of Sancerre and finishing at the Cathedral town of Bourges.

Day 2 - Bourges to Beaune:

Bourges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site was besieged and destroyed by Julius Caesar's army in 52 BC. Rebuilt as a Roman City, the city became the home and birthplace to the French Royalty of the XV century. Our route takes us further East, through forests and river valleys to the principal town of the Burgundy wine region, Beaune.

Day 3 - Beaune to Annecy:

With hopefully some self control in consumption of the wines of Burgundy, we set off on our final day's cycling - to the hills of Haute Savoie.
Nestling near the borders of Switzerland and Italy, this is an area of outstanding beauty. approaching teh foot hills of teh Alps, we finsh at the lakeside of Annecy. Easing weary limbs, we have arranged a celebration Gala Dinner for the evening - cruising on the Lake to wash away any doubts you will return next year!!
